The Ravens only are going to admit but so much when it comes to making midseason acquisitions.

With season-ending injuries to linebacker Ray Lewis and cornerback Lardarius Webb, they have to do something because there aren't many options on the practice squad.

Coach John Harbaugh admitted as much when asked about adding a cornerback, though he was careful to avoid specifics.

"You always need more corners. We need more of everything," Harbaugh said. "We'll have to decide where we feel we mostly need another guy. … The most important thing is going to be getting the best player in here that we can."

There aren't any cornerbacks on the eight-man practice squad. Rookie Omar Brown is a safety as is Anthony Levine. There are two linebackers among the group in Josh Bynes and Adrian Hamilton. The Ravens put Webb on injured reserve on Tuesday and moved rookie running back Bobby Rainey from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Ravens released cornerback Danny Gorrer, who initially made the final cut for the 53-man roster, a week before the season opener to make room for safety James Ihedigbo, who was acquired when he was released by the New England Patriots.

Gorrer was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks, where he is a third-string corner.

The Ravens nabbed Cary Williams, now a starting cornerback with a team-high three interceptions, from the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans three years ago.
