The Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced that John Lamon was hired as an assistant coach under head coach Dave Cottle for the 2013 season. Lamon is familiar with the Bayhawks being part of the 2010 MLL Championship coaching staff.
“I am excited to have John back on our staff,” Cottle said in a statement. “He took a year off to watch his kids play. John is well liked and respected by the players and totally committed to helping the Bayhawks.”
Lamon comes to the Bayhawks with valuable coaching and playing experience. Lamon’s career highlights include playing professionally for the Washington Wave’s Indoor Team from 1985-1988 and being on the World Champion US Lacrosse Team in 1986. He was also inducted into the Maryland Lacrosse Club Hall of Fame after claiming two National Championships with the Club. Lamon was awarded the Willis Bilderback Award and the Annapolis Touchdown Club Award for contributing his time to youth lacrosse.
The Bayhawks 2013 home opener is Saturday, May 4th against the New York Lizards at 7:00 PM at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial stadium.
