BALTIMORE – Wilson Betemit hobbled around the clubhouse on Sunday, looking a lot more relieved than he did when he first hurt his right leg.
Betemit, who suffered a partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament on March 25, underwent surgery on Wednesday. He expects to be out six more weeks.
“They say everything is good inside,” Betemit said. “When I got hurt, I thought it was worse than what I have now. I thought I was going to have [major] surgery, but they told me it was good news. I just had the little surgery a couple days ago, and I feel much better.”
Betemit is planning to leave for Sarasota, Fla. to continue his rehab on Wednesday.
Brian Roberts, who has a strained right hamstring, was planning on leaving for Sarasota on Sunday.
“You don’t want to see anybody get hurt, but the news we got back was as good as you can expect,” manager Buck Showalter said.
Showalter says that Roberts, who’s supposed to be out three-four weeks is planning to be ahead of schedule.
