SAN FRANCISCO – After months of no progress, Wilson Betemit’s rehab is finally picking up speed. Betemit, who severely sprained his right knee in the last week of spring training, will move up from Gulf Coast to Frederick on Monday.

In his five games at Gulf Coast, Betemit batted .375 (6-for-16) with three RBIs.

“He’s making progress. It’s just time to get him in a different environment, some lights and some people in the stands. Just another step,” manager Buck Showalter.

Betemit has 15 more days left on his rehab assignment, though Showalter said that could be extended with his permission.

Lew Ford, who’s missed much of the season due to sports hernia surgery, was 3-for-8 in his three games at Gulf Coast. He’ll be joining Bowie on Tuesday.
