TONIGHT’S GAME:

Baltimore Orioles (49-41) vs. Texas Rangers (52-37), Oriole Park 7:05 p.m.

STARTING PITCHERS:

Zach Britton (2-2, 4.03) vs. Martin Perez (2-1, 1.85)

KEYS TO THE GAME:

Britton pitched very well in his last outing, two runs over seven innings in a no-decision in Chicago last Thursday. He may be sent to Norfolk after the game no matter what happens to make room for Wei-Yin Chen.

The Orioles broke out of their offensive funk with five runs, but they were just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. That will have to improve.

NEWS AND NOTES:

In Britton’s only start against Texas, he pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings.

Chris Davis has struck out five times in his last five official at-bats.

Chen will start on Wednesday. Manager Buck Showalter said on Monday the team won’t carry six starters after the All-Star break. Britton is the likely player to be cut, at least temporarily.

The Orioles have been outscored 59-40 in the sixth inning this season. It’s their worst inning.
