Chris Davis has been out for eight days with a strained left oblique muscle. When he was originally hurt, Davis hoped that he could avoid the disabled list.
He couldn’t, and while so many players are optimistic that their oblique injuries won’t take long to heal, Davis may be one whose optimism is realistic.
Davis stretched and ran on the field in Minneapolis before Saturday’s game and told reporters he hoped to swing in a few days.
After his Platelet Rich Plasma injection and a few days off, Davis promised that he wouldn’t rush back and hurt himself for the long run.
A year ago on Mother’s Day in Minneapolis, Wei-Yin Chen suffered an oblique strain, and he missed nearly two months.
While it seems unlikely that Davis will be ready when he’s eligible next Sunday, the Orioles hope that it won’t take much more time than that.
