BALTIMORE – Orioles left-handed pitcher Wei-Yin Chen confirmed that he has switched agents. CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reported last weekend that Chen had moved from Octagon to Scott Boras.

“I believe Scott Boras is a really professional agent and he’s not only helped me on the field, but off the field, too,” Chen told CSNBaltimore.com through his interpreter Tim Lin.

“I trust him, and I think I will have a better career with him.”

Chen is in the second year of a three-year deal he signed before the 2012 season that pays him $11.388 million. He is not eligible for arbitration until 2015 and can’t be a free agent until 2018 according to Baseballreference.com.

He is 14-14 with a 3.91 ERA in 39 starts with the Orioles.

The Orioles have not approached the 27-year-old Chen about an extension.

“Not now. We haven’t heard anything yet,” Chen said.

Boras represents other Orioles including catcher Matt Wieters.
