Remembering Orioles' Monica Barlow

Today’s Game:

Toronto Blue Jays (3-0) vs. Baltimore Orioles (1-0), Ed Smith Stadium, Sarasota, Fla.1:05 p.m.

Starting pitchers:

Drew Hutchison vs. Miguel Gonzalez

Keys to the Game:

Gonzalez had been slowed by back spasms, but he says he’s over them.

Manager Buck Showalter is starting all of his available frontline position players.

The Blue Jays are bringing Jose Bautista and Melky Cabrera.

News and Notes:

In the Orioles spring home opener, Nelson Cruz will play in his first game with the Orioles. He’ll bat second and is the designated hitter. Nick Markakis will play right field.

Alex Gonzalez will play third base and bat ninth. He’s the only player to start both of the Orioles’ spring games.

The Orioles will observe a moment of silence to honor public relations director Monica Barlow, who died on Friday at 36.
