Three Orioles have made the Sporting News’ American League All-Star team. First baseman Chris Davis, shortstop J.J. Hardy and center fielder Adam Jones were named to the team. All three were starters in July’s All-Star Game.
The Orioles were the only team to have three members named.
Davis led the majors with a team record 53 home runs and drove in 138 runs. He also had 42 doubles and scored 103 runs.
Hardy led American League shortstops with 25 home runs and finished in the top five in putouts, assists and double plays.
Jones set career highs with 33 home runs and 108 RBIs and committed just two errors in center field.
Detroit’s Max Scherzer was the starting pitcher, Kansas City’s Greg Holland the relief pitcher, Minnesota’s Joe Mauer was the catcher, New York’s Robinson Cano the second baseman and Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers is the third baseman. Los Angeles’ Mike Trout and Boston’s Jacoby Ellsbury are the other outfielders.
