BALTIMORE – Not finding a taker for Chris Dickerson in either the trade market or on the waiver wire, the Orioles out-righted the 31-year-old outfielder to Norfolk on Monday.
The Orioles had designated Dickerson for assignment on July 19, but were unable to make a trade for him. He passed through waivers and accepted an assignment to Norfolk.
Dickerson spent more than three months with the Orioles, batting .245 with four home runs and 13 RBIs. He delivered perhaps the most exciting moment of the season when he hit a three-run game-winning home run off Detroit’s Jose Valerde on May 31.
He began the season with the Tides and was 3-for-15 when the Orioles purchased his contract in early April.
