Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter (26) argues with home plate umpire Angel Hernandez (55) against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

How difficult is the Orioles’ schedule? Sixteen of their first 19 are against Boston, Detroit, New York and Tampa Bay.

The rest of the month features six games with Toronto, three with Kansas City and two against Pittsburgh.

May could be somewhat easier. The Orioles have just three games against the American League East: May 6-8 at Tampa Bay.

The rest of May features six games with Houston, loser of more than 100 games in three straight years, four with Cleveland and Kansas City, three against Minnesota, Detroit and Milwaukee and two with Pittsburgh.

Showalter doesn’t want to emphasize how difficult the early schedule is. Nor does he want to look toward next month when the schedule supposedly eases.
