ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Here are some fast Opening Day facts:

-Nick Markakis starts his seventh consecutive Opening Day in right field, passing Ken Singleton, who made six.

-Brian Roberts starts for the ninth time at second base, passing Rich Dauer, who made eight.

-Manny Machado is the fourth Oriole to start at 20. The others were Brooks Robinson, who started his first at 19, Ron Hansen and Boog Powell.

-Machado, T.J. McFarland, and Miguel Gonzalez are on an Opening Day roster for the first time.

-The players with the most Opening Day starts are Cal Ripken and Brooks Robinson with 20.

-Machado, Jason Hammel and Steve Pearce start on Opening Day for the first time.

-There are two new players on the roster: McFarland and Alexi Casilla, and two new coaches, Bobby Dickerson and Einar Diaz.

-Pearce is the 11th different designated hitter in as many different years. David Segui started in 2002 and 2004, and Harold Baines was the last to start in consecutive years, 1993-94.
