Jai Miller will be watching tonight’s Alabama-Notre Dame national championship game with special interest. Miller, who played for Norfolk and Bowie last year, has elected to try college football at a very advanced age.
Miller will be 28 on Jan. 17, and he’s enrolled at Alabama in an attempt to play safety for the Crimson Tide next fall.
He played 28 games in the majors with the Marlins, Royals and Athletics in 2008, 2010 and 2011, striking out 29 times with two home runs.
The Orioles picked him up early last year. He stayed with the team until late in spring training, but was a huge disappointment.
In 97 games with the Tides and Baysox, he struck out 159 times and batted .196.
Miller was offered a football scholarship to Stanford in 2003, but chose baseball. Ten years later, he’ll try football again.
