Shortly after he walked into Oriole Park on Sunday, Matt Lindstrom found out he was traded.Lindstrom is headed west to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Orioles acquired left-handed starter Joe Saunders.Surprised, but also kind of excited. Its a little bittersweet, obviously because the team has done so well, Lindstrom said early Sunday afternoon.I enjoyed competing with them, but Im looking forward to moving on to the next chapter of my career.Lindstrom was 1-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 34 games. He missed seven weeks in May and June with a torn ligament in his right middle finger. Its obviously a business, and teams have needs, and some teams are stronger in some areas than others, Lindstrom said.Sometimes, it feels like youre not wanted, but thats sometimes not the case. Here in Baltimore, they have a plethora of pitching. The 32-year-old Lindstrorm was acquired from Colorado in February along with Jason Hammel for Jeremy Guthrie. Hes also pitchedd with Florida and Houston in the National League. His first American League experience lasted less than five months.I enjoyed it. The fans, the city of Baltimore treated me good-especially my teammates. Thats whats going to be tough to deal with, Lindstrom said.I have a ton of faith in these guys. This is a great team were on here in Baltimore. I think theyre going to go a long ways. I dont think anybody should be surprised if they end up in first. I just wish them well, and I know theyre going to have continued success.
