NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Michael Morse to the Orioles? It makes sense.
In an ultra-quiet time at the Winter Meetings, Morse, like many others has been linked with the Orioles.
A Morse deal would require that Adam LaRoche, who’s also been mentioned in conjunction with the Orioles, re-sign with the Nationals. If LaRoche signs elsewhere, Morse stays.
The Orioles would also have to give the Nationals something they want. Baltimore has a plethora of young starters and Davey Johnson, who closely follows his old team, might have a recommendation or two.
Perhaps Johnson likes Jake Arrieta, Zach Britton or Tommy Hunter. Maybe Pedro Strop would fit in the Nationals’ bullpen.
Would Dan Duquette try to avoid making a deal with the Nationals because the teams are in the same market?
Morse’s ability to play either first base or left field, two positions of interest to the Orioles, is attractive. His power hitting would be even more so.
There’s also a report that mentions Nate McLouth. Jon Morosi of Foxsports.com says the Seattle Mariners are thinking about McLouth.
The Orioles would like him back, but probably not at the money he’s seeking.
