The Orioles acquired utilityman Jimmy Paredes from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations on Thursday. Paredes was optioned to Norfolk.
It’s the second time this year the Orioles had obtained Paredes. On Feb. 15, he was claimed on waivers from Miami, but two days later was lost to the Royals when he was taken off the 40-man roster after the Orioles signed Suk-min Yoon.
Paredes was 2-for-10 in nine games with Kansas City this season. He was a pinchrunner in the Apr. 25 game against the Orioles.
In 127 games with the Astros and Royals, the 25-year-old Paredes is a .233 hitter.
He’s played second base, third base, right field and left field.
The Orioles now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
