BALTIMORE – Bud Norris has soreness in his right elbow, and manager Buck Showalter isn’t sure when he’s going to pitch again.

Showalter has inserted Jason Hammel into the rotation to pitch on Friday in Toronto. Chris Tillman will follow, and Miguel Gonzalez pitches on Sunday. After that, he doesn’t know.

The Orioles have their final day off on Monday, and Showalter could reinsert Norris in the rotation. He doesn’t expect Norris to try and throw until Sunday.

“At some point, maybe it fits physically better for him in the pen, I don’t know. I’m just leaving all avenues open,” Showalter said. “The problem is you’ve got to shut him down.”

Norris described the injury on Wednesday night.

“A fatigue and tightness kind of thing. There was no specific day.  Obviously getting to this point in the season, we’re adding up and so forth. I definitely felt it in my last couple, but I wanted to go out there and compete,” Norris said.

On Wednesday, Showalter predicted he would pitch again this season, but not he doesn’t know when.

“I can’t really slot him in anywhere,” Showalter said.
