BALTIMORE – For the second time this season, Chris Davis has been named the American League’s Player of the Week.
Davis batted .481 in seven games with four home runs and six RBIs.
On Wednesday, which happened to be “Crush Davis” T-Shirt night, Davis slugged two home runs in an Orioles’ come-from-behind win over the Nationals.
Davis hit his major league leading 20th home run on Sunday.
He also won the award in the first week of the season as well as the final week of the 2012 regular season.
Davis, who was voted AL Player of the Month for April, finished behind Miguel Cabrera for May’s Player of the Month.
NOTES: Dylan Bundy has been cleared to resume throwing in a week. Bundy visited Dr. James Andrews, who gave him an injection in his right forearm five weeks ago. At the time, Andrews told Bundy he would have to rest for six weeks.
Bundy has yet to pitch this season.
-The Orioles’ game on June 30 against the Yankees has been selected for ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball.” Game time has been changed from 1:35 to 8:05 p.m.
-Bowie’s Brandon Waring has been named the Eastern League’s Player of the Week.
-Jake Arrieta allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings for Norfolk against Buffalo on Monday afternoon.
