The Orioles declined their $5 million option for 2014 on Japanese left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada on Saturday night.
The move was expected after Wada completed a two-year $8.15 million contract without throwing a pitch for the Orioles.
Wada was signed in December 2011, and underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2012. His recovery was slow, and he spent most of the season with Norfolk where he was 5-6 with a 4.03 ERA.
It’s possible that Wada will sign a minor league contract with the Orioles.
