Whenever theres something in the Orioles way, they just push it aside. On Sunday, they spotted the Detroit Tigers five runs in the first inning and won 7-5. After Fridays maddening defeat, they won twice against a team with Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. The Orioles are now 66-55. Theyve already equaled the number of wins they had in 2010, the year Buck Showalter managed the last two months of the season. In order to secure their first winning season in 15 years, they have to finish 16-25. They havent even won 70 games since 2006. Wei-Yin Chen (12-7) allowed five runs in the first, and he and four relievers combined to allow just four hits in the last eight innings. Jim Johnson has 37 saves in 40 chances, and Pedro Strop hasnt allowed a run since early July. His ERA drops to 1.49.Chris Davis hit his second home run in as many games and has 20 this season. Matt Wieters (17) and J.J. Hardy (16) are likely to join Davis and Adam Jones in the 20-plus club.Since Showalter put Nick Markakis in the leadoff spot, his average has risen from .256 to .290. Its on to Texas for three games. The Rangers beat Toronto 11-2 on Sunday and with a 70-50 record lead the AL West. The Orioles arent afraid.
