While the Orioles season is over, the fans’ affection for them continues to grow.

The Orioles were saluted before and during the first quarter of the Ravens game with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Manager Buck Showalter was named honorary captain for the game, and wearing a Ravens cap, walked to midfield for the coin toss.

Showalter was greeted with a deafening ovation and responded by taking off his cap and waving it.

On Saturday, Showalter who coincidentally also has a home in Dallas, said: “I’ve fallen in love with this city,”

The crowd reciprocated his warm feelings. As he walked off the field accompanied by Poe, the Ravens' mascot, Showalter was greeted by defensive coordinator Dean Pees, who was the manager's guest at an Orioles game in June.

Late in the first quarter, a montage of Orioles highlights was shown on the scoreboard and Adam Jones, who’s become a regular at Ravens games, saluted the crowd.

The Ravens flashed a message: “Congratulations to the Orioles on a brilliant season.” They also placed Orioles and Ravens logos on the scoreboard with the message: “One heartbeat.” The “O” in one has in Orioles’ script.

Lew Ford, Brian Matusz and Taylor Teagarden also were at the game.
