PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Todd Redmond was claimed on waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
Redmond, who was claimed by the Orioles just before the start of training camp, had been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. The right-hander was 2-0 with a 5.63 ERA in five games before he was optioned on March 16.
The 27-year-old has pitched in only one major league game, a 3 1/3 inning start for Cincinnati last August when he gave up five runs and seven hits.
Redmond’s departure leaves the Orioles with 39 players on their 40-man roster. Trayvon Robinson was dropped from the 40-man to make room for Redmond.
