BALTIMORE – The Orioles scheduled game with the Pittsburgh Pirates was postponed because of rain on Tuesday. An announcement came a little more than two hours before the scheduled start of the game.
The game will be made up on Thursday at 7:05 p.m., which was a previously scheduled off day for both teams.
Chris Tillman and Charlie Morton were the scheduled pitchers.
Rain is also forecast for Wednesday, and it’s possible that there may be a Thursday doubleheader.
The postponement forces Manny Machado to wait until at least Wednesday for his activation. The Orioles weren’t planning on activating him until they were sure a game would be played.
Troy Patton will also have to wait for his return. He’s serving a 25-day suspension for amphetamine use and will now have to wait until Thursday.
Tickets for Tuesday’s game should be used on Thursday.
This was the second rainout of the season. The Apr. 15 game against Tampa Bay was also postponed. A makeup date has not been announced.
NOTE: Steve Pearce is now a free agent and could re-sign with the Orioles. He was claimed on unconditional release waivers, but elected free agency instead of accepting the claim.
