NEW YORK Joe Saunders and Chris Tillman both sat next to each other in the interview room before Wednesdays Game 3. One of them will start Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees on Thursday, Neither knows who will start. We were kind of hoping you would tell us because we dont know yet, Saunders cracked to a reporter.Well see how tonight goes, manager Buck Showalter said. Whoever it is, me or Chris, were going to go out there and do our job, Saunders said.Saunders, who was 3-3 with a 3.63 ERA in seven starts since he was acquired by the Orioles in late August, won the Wild Card Game in Texas last Friday.Tillman, who was 9-3 with a 2.93 ERA, pitched last Wednesday in Tampa Bay.I think our trusts us, and either way we go, I feel like we can get the get the job done, Tillman said.Tillman hasnt yet pitched in the postseason, and for the first two games, hes been in the bullpen watching. The intensity was huge, Tillman said. I think youve just got to treat it like another start. You cant put too much pressure on yourself. Its not fair to yourself, not fair to your team.Saunders has only pitched once at Yankee Stadium, earning a win, allowing two runs in six innings. If hes given the assignment, hell treat like a start in May.You have to approach it like its just another game. If you try to do too much, put too much pressure on yourself, youre going to runn into problems and things are going to snowball on you, Saunders said.Tillman is 2-2 with a 9.95 ERA in five starts. His team has won six of nine times this year at Yankee StadiumIts fun playing here, Tillman said.I think we all enjoy playing here as well. Its one of the nicer stadiums we get to go to, but from a player standpoint you get on the field, I think we focus on what we need to do and not buy into all that stuff. If theres a Game 5, it would be Jason Hammel against CC Sabathia. Hammel threw some before Wednesdays game.
