Tonight's Game:

Baltimore Orioles (77-68) vs. New York Yankees (78-68) 7:05 p.m. Oriole Park

Starting pitchers:

Wei-Yin Chen (7-7, 3.82) vs. Phil Hughes (4-13, 5.11)

Keys to the game:

Chen has won just once in his last seven starts. He’s 2-3 with a 4.69 ERA against New York. The Orioles are hoping for a strong start.

The Orioles have gone nine straight games without scoring more than five runs. Six or more may be needed tonight.

News and Notes:

After losing the last two games to the Yankees, the Orioles trail both Tampa Bay and New York in the battle for the final Wild Card spot. They’re 1 ½ games behind the Rays, a half-game behind the Yankees and tied with Cleveland two games out. Kansas City is a half-game behind the Orioles.

The season series is tied at nine games each. If the Orioles win, they’ll take their first season series from the Yankees since 1997.

Darren O’Day has been unavailable for the past two nights due to an undisclosed injury.

Bud Norris was scratched from his scheduled start in Toronto on Friday with discomfort in his right elbow.

The Orioles will honor Mariano Rivera, who is retiring at the end of the season, before the game.
