Tonight’s Game:

Baltimore Orioles (23-20) vs. New York Yankees (27-16) 7:05 p.m. Oriole Park

Starting pitchers:

Freddy Garcia (0-2, 5.51)  vs. CC Sabathia (4-3, 3.19)

Keys to the game:

The Orioles are on their longest losing streak in nearly a year, and need to have a big series against the Yankees. They lost two of three at Yankee Stadium in April. After totaling 37 hits in their previous three games, the Orioles had just five hits and scored only one run against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Garcia is pitching for his job. He had one excellent start with six no-hit innings and two poor ones. Jake Arrieta was called up on Saturday and will be long relief for Garcia, and could replace him in the rotation next time around. The Orioles will have to cut a pitcher to make room for Miguel Gonzalez on Tuesday, and Garcia will try to make sure it’s not him.

News and Notes:

Sabathia is 17-4 with a 3.03 ERA in 26 games against the Orioles. He’s 10-3with a 3.38 ERA at Oriole Park. Sabathia was the winning pitcher in games 1 and 5 of last year’s Divisional Series.

Look for Alexi Casilla to get a look at second base.  Ryan Flaherty was optioned to Norfolk on Saturday night and Yamaico Navarro played in all three games over the weekend. His defensive shortcomings were apparent on Sunday, and Casilla is batting .583 (14-for-24) against Sabathia.

Garcia pitched the previous two seasons with the Yankees.
