NEW YORK – An hour before game time, it was 43 degrees with a biting wind that made it feel like 35 degrees. Not much fun for April baseball.
“It will be brutal out there,” manager Buck Showalter said.
The Orioles don’t take special precautions due to the cold.
“Everybody is facing the same challenges,” Showalter said. “Players have to stay loose. Guys have the same issues in 90 degrees as they do in 30 degrees.”
His philosophy for the players to have them ready to play, but don’t talk about.
NOTES: Henry Urrutia is getting closer to being assigned to a minor league affiliate. He was the designated hitter Friday and will do that again on Saturday at extended spring training in Sarasota, Fla. After an off day Sunday, he’ll do it again Monday and Tuesday.
