SARASOTA, Fla. – The Orioles take the fields this morning for their first intrasquad games. All of the position players are in the lineups for the two games except for catchers Allan de San Miguel and Jose Gil.

Nick Markakis has left the team for a few days because of a death in the family. Conor Jackson (lower back) and Luis Martinez (oblique) are unable to play, and manager Buck Showalter has chosen to rest Nolan Reimold who had neck surgery last June.

There is no DH for the three-inning games, and a strict pitch limit will be imposed. The most impressive lineup is for one of the “visiting” teams. Adam Jones leads off. He’s joined by Wilson Betemit, Chris Davis, J.J. Hardy, Nate McLouth, Brian Roberts and Matt Wieters.

That lineup will face Jake Arrieta, Brian Matusz and Jair Jurrjens. The only regular player for the “home” team is Manny Machado.

The other game is populated with minor leaguers and non-roster hopefuls.

The team will make a quick exit to participate in Jim Johnson’s charity golf tournament.
