The Boston Red Sox have asked for and received permission to interview Orioles director of pitching development Rick Peterson to be their pitching coach.
The Boston Globe was the first to report this.
Peterson, who’s been a major league pitching coach with Oakland, the New York Mets and Milwaukee, joined the Orioles early this year to work with pitchers in the minor leagues.
The Red Sox hired John Farrell as their new manager on Sunday, and he’s trying to assemble a staff.
Peterson declined comment on the report when he was reached on Friday night.
