The Orioles like how their minor league teams worked in 2013, so they’re not making many changes for 2014.

While Ron Johnson and Gary Kendall return to Norfolk and Bowie with their staffs intact, Luis Pujols and Ryan Minor are switching places.

Pujols, who once managed the Detroit Tigers, spent last year at Delmarva, and he’ll move up to Frederick. Minor, who had managed the Shorebirds from 2010-12 before taking over the Keys last year, will return to Delmarva. He lives in Salisbury.

Matt Merullo and Luis Gomez return for their second years at short-season Aberdeen and Gulf Coast.

Johnson, in his third season with the Tides, will again have Mike Griffin as his pitching coach. It’s Griffin’s fifth season in the organization. Denny Walling returns as hitting coach and Jose Hernandez is the field coach.

Kendall, who is in his fourth season as Baysox manager, returns Blaine Beatty as pitching coach and Butch Davis as field coach.

Kennie Seenstra (pitching) and Torre Tyson (hitting) will work with Pujols at Frederick, and Alan Mills was promoted to the Shorebirds after two years with Aberdeen. Paco Figueroa will be Delmarva’s field coach.

Justin Lord, who was the Shorebirds last year will be the Ironbirds’ pitching coach. Ramon Sambo (field) and Milt May (hitting) will be at Gulf Coast.

Brian Graham returns for his second season as the director of player development. Rick Peterson is back for his third year as director of pitching development. Jeff Manto was named as minor league hitting coordinator in November.

When Mike Bordick isn’t working on Orioles telecasts, he’ll be working with minor leaguers as will longtime catching instructor Don Werner. Dave Anderson (infield) and Scott Beerer (outfield and baserunning) are new to the organization. Scott McGregor, who was the Orioles’ bullpen coach for the last six weeks of the season returns to Sarasota as the team’s rehab coordinator.

NOTE: The Orioles will play an exhibition game in Norfolk on Mar. 29 at 3:05 p.m. against the Tides.
