You’re forgiven if you didn’t pay much attention to baseball and the Orioles over the past 10 days. You were busy celebrating the holidays, taking some time off and watching football.

That’s fine. You didn’t miss much.

The Orioles didn’t make any moves, and few other teams did. Two names linked with the Orioles did find new homes. Cody Ross signed with Arizona and Nick Swisher with Cleveland.

Joel Hanrahan was traded to the Red Sox, the majors’ only significant deal during the break while Adam LaRoche and Joe Saunders remain unsigned.

There have been a few new trade rumors. Detroit’s Rick Porcello and Seattle first baseman Justin Smoak have been rumored to be moving, and the Orioles were mentioned as possible destinations.

There’s still work to be done before spring training begins on Feb. 12. The Orioles should announce at least one signing; there’s an opening on the 40-man roster, and still that surplus of young pitching  and another bat to be obtained.

OK. You’re caught up. Back to work for the Orioles, and for you.
