A little over a week after the end of their season, the Orioles have been quiet. Three of their AL East competitors have not.

The Yankees self-destructed in their four-game loss to Detroit in the ALCS and there’s all kind of talk about the team re-inventing itself. CC Sabathia will have his left elbow checked by Dr. James Andrews, never a good sign, and chatter about A-Rod’s future gets louder and louder.

The Red Sox have a new manager, who comes from the Blue Jays. Their season was a disaster, and the Orioles regularly beat up on Boston. Their roster needs a serious makeover.

Toronto needs a new manager after a most disappointing season. Lots of injuries and now John Farrell is gone.

Only the Rays have been quiet.

After last season the Orioles had a lengthy search for a top baseball executive, and the year before, Buck Showalter assembled a new coaching staff.

Does a quiet off-season portend good things for the Orioles?
