The news had been all good about the Ravens Albert McClellan. Hes apparently going to get the starting linebacker spot left vacant by Terrell Suggs while Suggs recovers from his torn Achilles tendon.
However, The Suns Aaron Wilson reports that McClellan was arrested in June in Florida on misdemeanor assault and battery charges related to an incident with a former girlfriend.
McClellans agent told Wilson, though, that the club knows about the situation, plus McClellan wont be facing any criminal charges.
The alleged victim has already filed a request not to prosecute, and we are confident that when all the facts are brought to light, Alberts good, clean name will be restored, Glenn Lansky said. Albert has always shown himself to be honest and forthcoming, and we truly believe that any and all allegations will be disposed of favorably for Albert.
The police report, as relayed by Wilson, doesnt paint a pretty picture. McClellan and the woman supposedly had a heated argument over his contact with another woman, and it allegedly escalated into lamp-throwing (by him), pushing (by him) and kicking (by her), all of this in front of the womans 11-year-old daughter.
But if the agent is correct, this may be the last we hear of the incident.
