Major League Baseball has suspended infielder Ryan Adams for 25 games for testing positive for amphetamines. Adams, who appeared in 29 games for the Orioles in 2011, but played for Norfolk in 2012, was on the 40-man roster when the test was administered.

Adams was removed from the 40-man roster in September. He suffered a broken thumb in May and missed most of the season. Adams, who batted just .229, was not considered for a September recall.

He was a second round pick in 2006 and joined the Orioles in May 2011 after Brian Roberts suffered his second concussion. Adams batted .281 with seven RBIs with the Orioles.
