For years, the season-ending baseball awards were announced in press releases in November. This year, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, will announce its awards on the MLB Network.

On November 12, the Rookie of the Year Awards will be announced. The next night, it’s the Managers of the Year. On November 14, it’s the Cy Young Awards, and the next night, it’s Most Valuable Players.

All programs are an hour long and begin at 6 p.m.

Orioles fans will pay particular attention to the Nov. 13 program. Buck Showalter and Oakland’s Bob Melvin are the two favorites for the Manager of the Year Award. Showalter has won the award twice.

It’s possible that Wei-Yin Chen could pick up some votes in the Rookie of the Year Award, though the Angels’ Mike Trout is a lock to win it. Jim Johnson might also get some support for the Cy Young and Adam Jones should get some votes in the AL MVP.

It’s been a long time since an Oriole won a major award.

Davey Johnson was the last Oriole to win Manager of the Year Award in 1997. That announcement came on the same day as his departure. Cal Ripken won the MVP Award in 1991. Gregg Olson was 1989’s AL Rookie of the Year and Steve Stone was the last Cy Young Award winner in 1980.
