The Detroit Tigers’ Max Scherzer easily won the AL Cy Young Award on Wednesday night.
Scherzer, who was 21-3 with a 2.90 ERA received 28 of the 30 first place votes. Texas’ Yu Darvish finished second and Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma came in third.
Neither Darvish nor Iwakuma received a first place vote. Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez and Chicago’s Chris Sale each received a first place vote.
Former Orioles reliever Koji Uehara finished seventh, receiving a second and third place vote.
Eleven pitchers received votes. Chris Tillman did not receive any.
