BALTIMORE – Henry Urrutia, who was not in the starting lineup, had a bad neck because he slept poorly. The Cuban defector can't go with the Orioles to Toronto because of immigration issues.

The Orioles haven’t decided whether Urrutia will return to the Orioles after he goes to Sarasota, Fla. on Friday. Urrutia will play in the Arizona Fall League next month, and the Orioles could choose to end his first major league season now and have him stay in Sarasota to prepare for the AFL instead.

“I alerted him to the fact that it could go either way so he didn’t take three changes of clothes down there,” manager Buck Showalter said.

“It would be a really good move for him to go to the Fall League. It’s a really good level. I think Henry’s really looking forward to it.”

Showalter is planning on a trip to Arizona to check out the prospects.

Wilson Betemit was in the starting lineup. He hasn’t started since Aug. 31, and is hitless in nine at-bats. He’s 5-for-10 against New York starter Phil Hughes.

“Wilson is a good fit for us tonight,” Showalter said. “There really is so much unknown about where Wilson really is. I’m curious to see how he does tonight.”

Betemit didn’t play until late August because of a severely sprained right knee.

“It’s been a tough year for him. It’s also been a tough year without him,” Showalter said. “Someone’s got a chance—maybe us—to get a solid guy next year when he’s got all this behind him.”

Betemit is planning on playing winter ball.
