A quick whip around the Ravens’ division:

*Browns: Offensive coordinator Norv Turner says Brandon Weeden is Cleveland’s starting quarterback.

"We're getting Brandon ready to be the starter,'' Turner told The Plain Dealer this week. "He's getting a big chunk of the work, but we're getting the other two guys [Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer] ready to play. As we know, you better have all three of those guys ready to play in this league.''

But that doesn’t mean Weeden doesn’t have things to work on.

"There are some times when it may be a new play, it may be a defensive look that he hasn't had a lot of reps on and when you start thinking too much, you tend to slow down and we're working through that,'' said Turner, who also praised Campbell.

*Steelers: Anyone with good taste will be glad to hear that Pittsburgh won’t be hearing those dreadful bumblebee throwback uniforms in either game against the Ravens this season. The black-and-yellow-striped outfits will appear just once, on Nov. 17 against the Lions.

They’re just as bad as the Packers’ brown-helmets-and-blue-jerseys combo and the Broncos’ taco-colors-and-vertical-striped-socks ensemble.

*Bengals: Who needs preseason games? Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis said he could basically set his roster immediately.

“If I cut the football team right now, I could probably cut it to 56,” he said, as reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Actually, Lewis was saying he hopes to see some players force their way into his thinking during preseason games and make the roster pruning more difficult.

“Hopefully, it’s more like 60 and those guys can start proving that next Thursday night,” Lewis said.
