Harbaugh: 'We need to start faster'
EARLY BIRD: Waking up with the Ravens on Tuesday, a day off before they resume practice to prepare for the Steelers.
Two-minute topic: Is wide receiver Tandon Doss ready to become a bigger part of an offense that needs help?
Doss has 11 catches over his last three games, including his all-time best performance on Sunday – four catches for 99 yards. With Ravens opponents focused on containing Torrey Smith, Doss is looking to fill the void.
“I’ve got to make the most of my opportunity,” Doss said. “It’s only a few plays here and there. I’ve still got a long season to go. There are many more plays to be made, and I’ve got to make them.”
The chemistry between Doss and quarterback Joe Flacco seems to be building.
“Anytime you make plays you’re going to build your confidence up,” Doss said. “You’re going to be more comfortable. You’re going to be more comfortable. It’s the speed of the game, and just me and Joe clicking on the same page, but anytime you make plays that’s going to happen and hopefully I’ll keep making them.”
The Ravens have been waiting on Doss to blossom since making him a fourth-round pick in 2011. The Ravens cut him before the season, but re-signed him after Week 1, and Doss has been a better player since. Maybe the Doss the Ravens have been looking for has finally arrived.
Morning thought: “We have tons of respect for them. We know what they’re about. We enjoy playing in the game, and I believe they do, too. It should be a heck of a battle.”
Ravens coach John Harbaugh, talking about the Ravens-Steelers rivalry that resumes Sunday in Pittsburgh.
