Face it, you’re shocked that Tom Brady is being fined at all for his Ty Cobb impression against the Ravens. After all, doesn’t everyone believe the Patriots quarterback gets most-favored-nation status from the NFL?

However, let’s look at it another way. The reported amount of the fine is $10,000. So that’s the price of a dangerous play that could have severely injured another player. Very serious business, right?

But not as serious as how you wear your socks.

The 49ers’ Frank Gore was fined $10,500 for a uniform violation in Sunday’s NFC title game because his socks were drooping down around his ankles.

Last month, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was fined $10,000 for an attire violation that didn’t even happen during a game. RG3 appeared at a news conference after the Redskins-Ravens game wearing an Adidas T-shirt and sweats. The NFL’s official provider is Nike.

Recklessly endangering another player is one thing, but dissing the NFL’s officially licensed partner is quite something else. And pull those socks up!
