The Ravens hoped to re-sign cornerback Corey Graham during free agency, but he signed with the Bills instead. That means fourth-year cornerback Chykie Brown could play a bigger role as a No. 3 corner next season. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Brown’s technique has improved.

“He’s way more detail-oriented than he used to be,” Harbaugh said, via a transcript provided by the Pro Football Writers of America. “If he’ll be a detailed press corner, if he’ll put his hands on people and stay squared and be physical at the line of scrimmage and communicate with the safety on every single play – Chykie can play. It’s the lapses that he has to get out of his game. He knows that. He’s working hard at that.

“Huge steps last year. When he played, he played really well. Chykie’s ready. We’ll see how ready. He’s ready to make a run with a lot more playing time.”

Lardarius Webb and Jimmy Smith are firmly entrenched as the Ravens’ starting corners. However, with more teams using three wide receiver formations, having a reliable third corner has become more important. Last season, Graham filled that void. Next season, it could be Brown.
