The Browns have an 11-game losing streak to the Ravens. But that’s not what matters, the Browns say.

“This team has only been 0-1 against them,'' safety T.J. Ward said, as reported by The Plain Dealer. "So the past is really not what we’re worried about. We’re worried about the last game, what we can improve from that game. The past 10 or whatever, those have been completely different teams, different owners, different coaches, different everything.”

Cornerback Joe Haden also runs with the idea of the past being long past.

“As the years go by, the teams change,'' Haden said. "The Ravens aren't the Ravens of old. They're still really good, a real talented team, a division opponent, but at the same time, our team is a whole different team.”

What the Browns are hanging their hats on, especially when it comes to defense, is how well they played in the second half on Sunday against the unbeaten Chiefs. Though Cleveland lost 23-17, the defense allowed Kansas City just 50 yards in the second half.

"We need to go set the precedent of our defense, what we want our defense to be known as and just come out there from the beginning and keep it going,'' Haden said.

That wasn’t the case in Kansas City until the Browns coaches let their defenders have it at halftime.

"The coaches went at us,'' Haden said. "They went at us like they never went at us before. Coach [Rob Chudzinski] came right out at us and was calling us out [by] name.”
