Ngata talks about the Ravens big playoff win
The Ravens recorded three sacks Sunday in their victory over the Colts. But how many would they have had against a quarterback other than Andrew Luck?
Among Luck’s many attributes are his size. At 6 feet 4, 230-plus pounds, he presents a formidable target in the pocket. The Ravens hit him several times without being able to bring him down, and Luck ended up attempting 54 passes, completing 28 for 288 yards. He scrambled four times for 35 yards.
This should have had a familiar look to the Ravens and their fans. Shades of Ben Roethlisberger. Like against the Steelers quarterback, it’s not enough to simply get loose from the protection and reach the passer. Once the pass rusher gets there, he has to deliver a strong tackle or Luck will break free and find a receiver.
Luck is about the same size as Roethlisberger, but faster and, given he has just started his career, a whole lot less beaten up. Though the Ravens defeated him Sunday, they should be glad they don’t have to face Luck twice every season.
