Dansby still in play for Ravens?

If the Ravens decide to jettison Rolando McClain after his latest appearance on a police blotter, there is another veteran linebacker still out there — for the moment, at least — that they could consider, Karlos Dansby.

Before they signed McClain, the Ravens had reportedly shown interest in free agent Dansby. He’s a nine-year vet let go by the Dolphins after they added former Raven Dannell Ellerbe. However, Dansby has visited the Bills this week.

If the Ravens again show interest, though, and Dansby were given a choice between Buffalo and Baltimore, you would have to think Dansby would be more interested in the Ravens if the money were comparable. The defending Super Bowl champs or the perennially also-running Bills? Doesn’t seem like a hard decision.

Dansby, 31, led Miami in tackles last season with 134. He’s been a consistent presence for the Dolphins and the Cardinals before that. Over his nine seasons, he has missed just eight games.

Earlier this month, Mike Preston of The Sun referred to Dansby as a possibility should the Ravens not find a linebacker in the draft. Preston noted that Dansby remains a factor against the passing game, having set a career-high with nine passes defensed last season.
