EARLY BIRD: Saturday’s wakeup call with the Ravens.

Today’s schedule: 12:30 practice, followed by John Harbaugh’s 1:45 press conference.

Today’s buzz: The Ravens are as healthy as they have been all season, but they are still just 1-5 on the road. All week, the buzzword around the Ravens has been “finish.” Play a full 60 minutes and finish games on the road. Build on their current three-game winning streak and finish the regular season with momentum. The Ravens hope to leave the practice field today, taking that mindset of finishing into Monday night’s game that has huge playoff implications for both the Ravens (7-6) and Lions (7-6).

Player in spotlight: Matt Elam, Ravens rookie safety. Elam’s comment about Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson being “pretty old” has been a talking point all week. Harbaugh and Joe Flacco say they wish Elam had kept quiet. Other teammates like James Ihedigbo and Jimmy Smith don’t view Elam’s comments as a big deal. However, the talk has brought Elam more attention than he wanted, heading into the biggest game of the season. It will be interesting to see how he reacts.

Morning thought – “I gave the players the weather report in the morning and I said, ‘It’s going to be 72 and calm.’’’ – Ravens special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg, talking about playing in a dome Monday in Detroit.
