Justin Tucker: "I'm doing my job"

EARLY BIRD: Waking up with the Ravens, after their important win over the Steelers.

Two-minute topic: How long will Justin Tucker go before he misses another field goal?

After kicking five field goals against the Steelers, Tucker has made 27 straight, the second longest in team history. Matt Stover made 36 straight in a streak that began in 2005, and carried over into 2006. Tucker refused to take all the credit, giving some to long snapper Morgan Cox and holder Sam Koch, who is also the Ravens’ punter.

“I really don’t even acknowledge when people tell me that I’m on some sort of streak or anything,” Tucker said. “ I just feel like I’m doing my job. I’ve got two guys that are on the field that are helping me do it to the best of the abilities. That’s where I get my confidence from, what we do out on the practice field at Owings Mills. We feel like we’re unique. We work, we put in some hours. We pay very close attention to detail, and as long as we’re doing those things, we know we always have a chance to be successful.”

The Ravens have played plenty of close games this season, and Tucker’s ability to make clutch kicks could once again be a crucial edge.

Morning thought: “I knew they were coming after the guy that was fresh off the bench. This was the last play that was going to win the game, and I knew they were coming my way.” Ravens cornerback Chykie Brown, on successfully preventing Emmanuel Sanders of the Steelers from catching a two-point conversion pass that would have tied the game.
