Giants have identity crisis, too

Does this sound familiar?

Here’s Gary Myers of the New York Daily News on the Giants:

“It’s the wrong time of the year for the Giants to be suffering from an identity crisis, but with two must-win games remaining, the Super Bowl champs still have no idea who they are.

“One week they score 52 points … the next week they get shut out for the first time since 1996 and lose by 34 to the Falcons, just 11 months after beating them by 22 in the playoffs.

“When they look in the mirror, it’s scary because they don’t know who will be looking back.”

Inconsistent and not really having an identity sure sounds a lot like the Ravens, doesn’t it? There are even questions about quarterback Eli Manning, too, with Giants fans wondering whether they’ll see the Good Eli or the Bad Eli on Sunday.

Now, this reflection thing only goes so far, of course. The Giants, after all, are the defending Super Bowl champions. But they also need to win their last two to assure themselves of a spot in the playoffs, while the Ravens already have clinched a postseason berth. Still, there’s plenty of desperation to go around for both squads.
