The media like to talk about “trap” games in the NFL — those games where a team is looking ahead or is otherwise preoccupied and loses to an inferior opponent.

After the Bengals put up a big win on Sunday against the Giants, the question comes up for Cincinnati, which next faces the victory-challenged Chiefs. (This was before the Chiefs game against the Steelers Monday night.)

If Bengals star receiver A.J. Green is representative of the rest of the team, they have had the humble drilled into them by this season’s results. On XM Radio’s “NFL Blitz,” Green was asked whether the Bengals could be looking past the Chiefs.

His reply: “We lost to freakin’ Cleveland.”

That answer is a perfect blend of self-awareness and disdain for a lowly AFC North rival.

Green should get credit for another touchdown just for giving the kind of honest answer you rarely hear from an NFL player.
