The Ravens are slowly going through Ray Lewis withdrawal.

They have cordoned off his former locker at the Owings Mills complex. Ray Rice has invited him to come to Denver to be with the team for the opener against the Broncos on Thursday. And even without the retired linebacker’s presence, Rice wasn’t giving up one of his Lewis-related traditions.

On the last real practice before each regular-season game — usually on Friday — Rice and Lewis would flip-flop jerseys, with Rice wearing No. 52 and Lewis putting on the running back’s No. 27. This week, Friday was a Tuesday, and there was Rice again wearing No. 52.

“I found it in the archives,” Rice told BaltimoreRavens.com. “I’m carrying [his legacy] on. You can’t change, man. This is what kept me successful.”

The “archives” actually was the Ravens’ equipment room, the team website reported. Rice rifled around until he found he found one.

Of course, if Rice needed to find a Lewis jersey, all he had to do was make a trip to a mall or supermarket. He would be bound to find several people who were wearing them.
