It looks like Jacoby Jones will need the equivalent of a 108-yard kickoff return if he’s going to win “Dancing With The Stars.” Out of the four remaining competitors, Jones and partner Karina Smirnoff were a clear fourth in Monday night’s finals. It’s not that the judges scored them poorly, it’s that everyone else’s scores hit the heights.

Jones ended up with 56 points for his three dances — including a “relay dance” — trailing Zendaya (65), Kellie Pickler (64) and Aly Raisman (61). All of the others earned at least one perfect 30 score for a dance, which Jones failed to do.

In what should have been Jones’ huge moment, the freestyle, the Ravens wide receiver/kick returner had his moments flinging around Smirnoff, but we have to agree with judge Carrie Ann Inaba that the inclusion of other dancers — with a couple of cute kids for the final segment — to give it the feel of Jones’ native New Orleans, had the effect of throwing the spotlight off Jones.

The fan vote along with scores added from a last-gasp dance tonight during the two-hour series finale (9 p.m., ABC) will determine the winner. Maybe Jones’ energy and his doting mom in the audience have won over enough of the public and then he’ll turn in his best dance of the season tonight. Seems like a long shot, though.
